Global Earth Hour - March 29th 8pm - turn off your lights!

20 March 2008

You can make a difference: help us to shut down the lights to reduce the amount of CO2.

If everyone does their part, even the simplest things have a positive impact on climate change. And this is one of those simple things that we can all be involved in.

The Earth Hour is a global initiative by WWF in which cities and communities will turn off their lights for one hour to symbolize their commitment to finding solutions for climate change. Millions of people in some of the world’s major capital cities will unite and switch off their lights. Dublin has become the first Irish city to commit to Earth Hour followed by Galway and Limerick along with Kildare and Clare Local Authorities. To know more about this initiative and how business can get involved, please visit www.earthhour.org

By turning off the lights for an hour on March 29th at 8pm, you will send a clear message that action is possible. Tell your friends, family and workmates about this event. Talk to them about the issues and encourage them to join you in creating a sustainable future.

At home, you can take advantage of the hour by replacing your standard light bulbs with energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs. Every single light makes a difference!
