Picker Pals is a FREE environmental education programme from Voice Ireland for 6-9 year olds in primary school that inspires children to lead their families on litter-picking adventures in their local communities.
Being a Picker Pal plants the seed of lifelong environmental responsibility at a key time in children’s lives, just when their attitudes to the world around them are taking shape.
It’s incredibly simple for teachers to run, but the real magic of the programme is how much the children love getting their turn to bring the Picker Pack home and become the environmental boss in their family on litter-picks!

Each classroom receives a Picker Pack with equipment that one child brings home at a time in order to lead their family on litter-picks around their local area.
After that, they return the pack to school and tell their classmates how they got on. The process repeats as each new child gets their turn throughout the year, with the result being that talking about litter-picking and environmental action becomes normalised for the children.
The litter-picking is backed up with a year’s worth of online lessons and other classroom resources through which a wide range of environmental topics are taught.
