VivaGreen have been researching and manufacturing eco-friendly products for over 25 years. We look at environmental problems and develop solutions around these areas. From research we found a one of Ireland’s biggest polluters was coming from household cleaning products, this led us to the development of Tru Eco. The Tru Eco range is made her in Ireland from plant-based and biodegradable ingredients. Each bottle is made from 100% recycled plastic, and they are reusable, recyclable and refillable creating a truly circular economy product. Buying behaviours are changing and consumers are actively looking for eco-friendly / refill solutions. We want to work with as many refill stockists and by all working together, we can truly make a difference.  

The Tru Eco Range was launched in September 2020 and since then the range has grown dramatically, the prefilled bottles are now available in SuperValu and Dunnes Stores Nationwide. We have just joined up with one of Irelands leading distributors into the Health Store and Sustainable shops to help with the role out of the Tru Eco refill stations. It is fantastic to see consumers actively looking for eco-friendly alternatives and so satisfying to see the increase in demand for people looking to refill.  

Our Tru Eco range is made here in Ireland is from plant-based, biodegradable ingredients. The range includes: All Purpose Cleaner (500ml and 1.5L), Washing-Up Liquid (500ml and 1.5L), Non-Bio Laundry Detergent (1.5L) and Fabric Softener (1.5L).  I can’t say too much but we will be adding some very exciting products this year, again each product will be truly circular.

We want to deliver a refill station in every supermarket in Ireland. Our aim is to make it as convenient as possible for people to refill. Currently we are doing a pilot scheme with SuperValu Killiney and if all goes well, we will see this being rolled out too many more stores. Consumer behavior is changing, people are willing to change their buying behaviors, Supermarkets will buy into the refill concept when the demand is there and thankfully, we can see this increasing week on week.

As the manufacturer we are always going to face numerous challenges, the biggest hurdle is getting your products on shelf to begin with. We are in a unique position with Tru Eco as consumers are actively looking for green, Irish Made Products. Investment into public awareness is a huge barrier we need to educate consumers as to why they should refill and the benefits that this provides. As a small Irish business, it’s very hard to get our message out there but by teaming up and working with likeminded business and organizations we can all work together to really make a difference. Therefore, we are delighted to see the #WECHOOSEREUSE campaign.

By refilling consumers can also reduce their environmental footprint, minimise plastic waste as well as lowering carbon emissions. Refilling just makes sense!
