Hot off the heels of the success of the Cloth Nappy Incentive Scheme in Cork, the scheme has now been launched in University Maternity Hospital Limerick!
Eileen Ronan, Director of Midwifery at University Maternity Hospital Limerick, said “We are delighted to support this initiative across the Mid-West region. It is a practical way for families to reduce waste and embrace sustainability. It provides the opportunity for families to make the eco-conscious choice while at the same time saving money.”

Environmental Awareness Officers from Limerick City and County Council, Tipperary County Council and Clare County Council said, “Switching to cloth nappies is a meaningful change that can make a big environmental impact. We encourage families across the region to apply and give them a try.”
The scheme is funded by Limerick City and County Council, Clare County Council and Tipperary County Council, and families living within these areas will be eligible to apply. Successful applicants will receive a free starter bundle of cloth nappies and wipes to help them make the move from disposable to reusable nappies. In addition, these families will be offered support in the use of the nappies through the Cloth Nappy Library.
