Summer has arrived! After the harsh winter of last year, we hope that the sun is shining wherever you are. And what a year 2011 has been so far. With one of the most dramatic elections in recent history just a few months behind us, VOICE has been keeping a firm eye on the new Fine Gael-Labour coalition’s commitment to environmental issues. You can read more about how we think the Government is doing on page 2 of our Summer Newsletter. At VOICE, we have been busy too. We made a submission on the Climate Change Response Bill at the start of the year, and continue to work towards the implementation of Climate Change legislation in Ireland (page 1). We’ve also been working with local communities this year, educating the public on sustainable approaches to waste. You can read about our Waste Action Workshops and how to carry out your own household waste audit on page 6.We hope you enjoy reading our Summer Newsletter, which is filled with handy tips for sustainable living, an interview with our patron Darina Allen and a book review of The Post Carbon Reader.
